On Wednesday, June 3, the Auto Driver Union of Ranchi district declared an increased fare chart for different routes amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The commuters are not happy with the revised fare and have complained of overcharging.
After the state government allowed public transport to operate in the state on Monday, the autos were seen on the street of the city as usual. However, the government has imposed a restriction on auto drivers to carry only two passengers during a trip.
The hiked fare may seem unfair but we cannot deny the fact that auto drivers were out of work for two months during the lockdown and most of them are struggling with the basic needs.
