The Dhanbad-Tatanagar link Alappuzha Express will now run separately. The two rakes running from Dhanbad Junction and Tatanagar Junction will no longer be linked at Rourkela Junction.
The Dhanbad Alappuzha Express will get 22 coaches of its own while Tatanagar Junction will get a completely new train with a total of 22 coaches. The new train will run daily between Tatanagar Junction and Ernakulam Junction.
The railway board along with all the railway zones from which the new train will pass through has agreed to the decision and it will be implemented soon after the nation-wide lockdown ends.
The timetable for the new train is also ready. The Tatanagar Ernakulam Express Down will depart at 5 AM from TataNagar and reach Ernakulam at 2:10 PM on the third day. While the Up train will depart from Ernakulam at 6:50 AM and will reach Tatanagar at 4 AM. The journey of 2422 km will be covered in 45 hours 10 minutes.
The decision will benefit the passengers of Dhanbad, Ranchi, and Tatanagar as thousands of commuters travel on this route from all the three cities. Now, due to different trains, seat availability will increase for the passengers.
The Dhanbad Alappuzha Express will run according to the existing timetable.
